Parkway-era tract homes, sixty years on
Brick filled in fast after the Garden State Parkway opened in 1954, and neighborhoods like Lake Riviera, Laurelton, and Baywood share both a construction era and its shortcuts: 1/2" ceilings on wide-spaced framing, original taping now six decades old, and finishes that have absorbed every humid summer since. Whole streets tend to need the same drywall work within the same few years, and we see it house by house.
Flood memory along the Metedeconk
Sandy came ashore in October 2012 and Brick's bay and river frontage took some of the worst of it. Years later we still open lower walls on those streets and find rebuilds that were rushed: board set tight to the slab, damp framing sealed in, seams that were never taped. We rebuild flood-cut walls with moisture-resistant board held off the floor and a scope you can keep with the house records.
Sagging tract-house ceilings
Bowed 1/2" lids replaced with 5/8" board on the correct fastener pattern.
Bayside skim and repaint prep
Humidity-worn walls skimmed back to one clean plane.
