Popcorn Ceiling Removal for Toms River, NJ Homes
Toms River Drywall takes down popcorn ceilings across Toms River, where whole retirement villages and bayside neighborhoods were built in the decades when sprayed stipple was the standard ceiling finish.

The lab report comes before the scraper
Any acoustic texture applied before about 1980 can contain asbestos, and much of the housing around Toms River, including the adult communities built through the 1960s and 70s, falls squarely in that window. We have a sample chip tested at a lab first. If the result comes back positive, the ceiling is a job for a licensed abatement contractor and we will tell you so plainly instead of touching it.
Wet-scrape versus overlay
Never-painted stipple softens with water and scrapes off in ribbons. Stipple that has been painted, and in humid shore houses most of it has, sheds water and fights the blade, tearing the paper face as it goes. On those ceilings we either skim over the texture or fasten new 1/2" board across the old lid. We look at your ceiling and tell you which approach it is before we price it.
Dust control
Plastic on floors and walls, fixtures bagged, and the room exhausted through a window fan.
The finished surface
Removals get skimmed smooth to Level 5, since a bare ceiling under shore daylight forgives nothing.
Put-back
Lights, vents, and detectors remounted before the plastic comes down.
- Pre-1980 ceilings always lab-tested first
- Room isolated from the rest of the house
- Level 5 smooth standard on every removal
